The 7-Day Calm Focus Challenge

One small action a day, for seven days. Start today, go at your own pace, and tick each day off when it is done. Bookmark this page so it is easy to come back tomorrow.

Day 1 · 5 minutes

Clear one surface

A clear space in front of you removes small, constant distractions before work even starts.

  1. Take everything off the main surface of your desk or table.
  2. Put back only what tomorrow’s first task needs.
  3. Write tomorrow’s one most important task on a note and leave it where you will see it first.
Day 2 · 25 minutes

Put the phone out of reach

Distance works better than willpower. A phone in another room cannot pull your attention.

  1. Put your phone on silent in another room or a closed drawer.
  2. Set a 25-minute timer and work on the task from your note.
  3. When the timer ends, notice how the block felt. Write one sentence about it.
Day 3 · 5 minutes

Write a three-line plan

A short plan leads to a finished day. A long list mostly leads to the feeling of being behind.

  1. Line 1, the must: the one task that would make today count.
  2. Line 2, the shoulds: up to two smaller tasks.
  3. Line 3, the kind thing: one small thing for your own wellbeing. Do the must first.
Day 4 · 10 minutes

One task, in plain words

Focus fails most often when a task is vague. A clear first step makes starting easy.

  1. Rewrite your must so it names an action: “Draft the first two paragraphs,” not “Work on the report.”
  2. Decide the very first physical step and do it now.
  3. Keep a “later” list beside you. When another thought appears, write it down and return.
Day 5 · 30 minutes

Protect a focus block

A block in the calendar is a promise to your most important work, at the time your energy is best.

  1. Put a 30-minute focus block in your calendar at the same time for each of the next five working days.
  2. Turn on do-not-disturb and close email and chat for the block.
  3. Do today’s block now, or at the time you chose.
Day 6 · 10 minutes

Close the day on purpose

Ending the day clearly makes it easier to rest in the evening and to start the next morning.

  1. Write one sentence about where to pick up tomorrow.
  2. Do the desk reset from Day 1 and close every tab you will not need.
  3. Say, out loud or on paper, “The workday is done.” Then step away from the screen.
Day 7 · 30 minutes

The weekly reset

Thirty minutes once a week keeps small things from piling up and sets up a calm Monday.

  1. Write three things that got done this week, even small ones.
  2. Gather every sticky note and “later” list into one list.
  3. Choose one main goal for next week and put one thing you look forward to in your calendar.
